Success Meets Success

Doug Parker first heard about Ambit when he was at the 2010 Inc. 500 Awards Ceremony to be recognized for his financial services company’s growth. When regulatory changes and industry changes affected his business in 2012 and 2013, he remembered being impressed by the company he saw receive the award for the fastest growing privately held company in America: Ambit Energy.

“My initial impression was very strong,” Doug says. “What impressed me most was the ability to earn residual income and the long-term stability of the company.” Even though he saw the advantages of Ambit, it still took Doug some time to get his business up and running. “It was about 18—24 months before I was able to restructure my schedule and reallocate the appropriate time to Ambit.”

Setting Goals

At first, Doug’s goal was to add two thousand dollars of monthly income. Later, his “Why” evolved to paying for his children’s college expenses. Now he hopes to make enough to pay all his monthly expenses with his monthly residual checks.

“The more consistent I got at showing the business a little every day, the more consistent and significant my income became,” he says, enabling him to move his goalposts a little further over time.

He’s also had to overcome some challenges. “Time and consistency are two of the main ones,” he says. It can also be frustrating when new MCs join and then don’t do anything, or starts and stops. That was me. In the beginning I had to work crazy hours between working in my business and carving out more time for my Ambit business. As I started to make more money, I was able to commit more time. He also credits his faith for enabling him to work through life’s down times and finding a way to succeed.

Starting Fast

One secret to Doug’s success is that he works extra hard to get his MCs off to a fast start. “We have tried to get them going with www.ambitquickstart.com. I also started the Ambitious 50 podcast where I interview top Ambit leaders at www.Ambitiousradio.com.” He also advises new MCs to go to as many business presentations and trainings as possible, and attend every AMBITION and Simulcast.

Five EC Pieces
My/our “Why?”

Currently, my “Why” is for both of my kids to graduate from college with no student loan debt without touching their college funds, so the funds can be passed on to the next generation (Proverbs 13:22) and for my monthly residual check to cover all of my recurring monthly bills completely.

Time spent working my/ our Ambit business:

I plan to be full time by Ambition 2018, then only 35 – 50 hours per week until 2020.
